Christmas 2012: OOTDs etc~

Hello all!

Ho ho ho! Well, Christmas is over for another year and I must admit, I'm not looking forward to the darkness and coldness of January and February. But anyway, I had a lovely Christmas and I wanted to share it with you all~

I went down to Somerset to spend Christmas with my aunt, uncle and grandma this year. It was a really long drive but I quite like long drives, as I get to sit in the back of the car with my music on and clear my thoughts.

We drove past Stonehenge on the way!

Once we arrived at our seemingly deserted inn, we discovered that it was rather shabby and more than a little bit creepy - the landlord wasn't the most likeable character either but it was ok.

The view from the car park of our inn...there's actually a
prison on the left side!

The place was very historical but it was also crammed full of strange oddities, like ceramic mushrooms with faces!

Some of the weird and wonderful things in our room...
that wheel light was particularly spooky!

Ok, now onto the main feature of the post - the outfits! We arrived on Christmas Eve and I was feeling rather retro that day (blame the history revision) so I decided to pair my newly-bought-but-much-sought-after denim jacket with a berry knit top and black skater skirt. I like the silhouette and I decided to add some spotty tights and my lace collar to the look. I topped it off with a chunky rose bracelet. For my makeup, I applied a large wing of eyeliner, mascara and white highlight. On my lips I used a combination of Estee Lauder's 'Beige' and 'Hot Kiss' to create a nudey-purply shade that was still light (although the picture doesn't do the colour justice!) Here is the result:

Top - Hand-me-down    Jacket - New Look
Skirt - New Look    Tights - Marks & Spencer
Collar - New Look    Bracelet - New Look
Shoes - New Look

For Christmas Day, I wanted to be more relaxed, so I broke in my new khaki jumper from New Look. I loved this jumper not just because of the colour, but because it has a really cool zip up the back (which my grandma rather scornfully suggested was 'an invitation to certain Korean males'). It's neutral too, so it should be a versatile piece to style. I paired it with my lilac jeans that were a birthday gift from Warehouse (although they do lose their shape once they've been worn for a while). I don't find trousers particularly flattering but it would be ridiculous to boycott them. For my makeup, I did intend to have just a hint of eyeliner, but it was a case of putting a little too much on one side...so adding more to the other side, only to make it more uneven, so adding more to the other side...you get the picture! I added a tint of this insane lilac lipgloss I got for about 50p reduced. It actually looks very pretty!

So that was my Christmas from a fashion point of view :)

OOTD: December 1st 2012

Simple Monochrome

Hello all!^^

So first things first, I am so sorry that I haven't posted in such a long time! With mock exams, my birthday, my dance group and various other things, I just don't know where the time has gone. Anyway, enough with the excuses - I actually took these pictures about 3 weeks ago, but I can't remember the date so I'll just label it for today xD

Lace top - Gift
Skater skirt - New Look
Cardigan - Independent store
Tights - Primark
Necklace - River Island

I received this lace top as a gift from my godmother in America, and I love it so much! It's lace, for one, but I also think that the cut and shape is very flattering. It has an extremely low back, which is slightly uncomfortable, but it's unusual and it's also a great piece for layering.

Here's a better view of the actual
pattern :)
I've had the skirt for a while now and I love it. My waist is unusually high so I often find it hard to find a skirt that I can wear on my waist without it being too short. This skirt was from the Tall section at New Look, so it's a little longer than regular skater skirts, which is great for me! I wanted to achieve a pared-down look, so I kept with the monochrome theme by wearing a standard white cable-knit and some black tights. I chucked on my trusty genie lamp necklace for a little bit of change and that was my outfit!

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed^^

OOTD: 22nd August 2012

Hello all^^

This is my OOTD for today, which I am calling 'Fringing & Feathers'. I am sleeping over at my best friend's house today and we have been taking photos for our respective blogs (hers is vintagerosethoughts if you want to take a look^^). This look is inspired by After School Red's Jungah from their 'In The Night Sky' music video:

Here it is!

Top: Zara
Fringed 'waistcoat': New Look
Shorts: New Look
Feathers: New Look
Necklace: River Island
Ring: Gift

I've been looking for a top that I could style with this 'waistcoat' for a while, so when I dug up this studded top, I thought it was perfect! I've had this top for a couple of years but never really worn it, and I want to give it more love from now on! I decided to pair it with these high-waisted (but not enough for my unusually high waist) shorts, since the darker denim contrasts the lighter palette of the top and waistcoat.

Accessory-wise, I wore a little more than usual (but then I was trying!) and I decided to go matchy-matchy by keeping the colours consistent. The studs, necklace, ring and feathers are all in a slightly 'distressed' shade of bronzy-gold, which I like. I also think that it suits the slightly American-Indian flavour of this outfit. The feathers were a little less subtle nod to American-Indians but they were partially hidden by my hair so they weren't obvious on first sight.

I love the mix of textures and the blend of colours...hope you do to!^^

OOTD-July 7th 2012

Hello^^

So, today I'm stuck inside all day, doing all the homework that I've been putting off (yay for procrastination!), which means I don't really have to bother with dressing up. But anyhow, I felt like delaying the homework a little more and doing this, so here you go.
I've gone for the top and cardigan combo. I've had the top for a while, it's from the Generation 915 section of New Look. It isn't the best quality but it's good for a relaxed look, and it's a little embellished which means there's less need for accessories! (Three cheers for being lazy with clothes! xD)

The cardigan was a present from my mum, I think it's from Store 21 (which is now something else I think?) It's a little damaged but you can't tell. It's so comfy and the florals are really pretty :3 I've also got bog standard skinny jeans on, and cream socks (yay for socks!).
